More about Kristine
I have studied and worked in the mental health field for over a decade. I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and Master’s of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling–both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama.
I have worked in the field of psychiatric research for 8 years coordinating clinical trials focusing on Major Depression, Treatment Resistant Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and suicide in both adolescents and adults.
I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I have also received training in behavioral neurobiology–understanding how our brain works at a more nuanced, biological level and how our neurobiology influences our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I have experience providing individual counseling to adolescents, teens, and young adults as well as providing group and individual career counseling to teens and adults with mental and physical disabilities.
In my free time, I enjoy being outside, hiking, backpacking, and camping. I love being creative and working with my hands. Sewing, pottery, painting, wood working, upcycling old things into new things–you name it! My favorite though is working outside in my home garden. That is my safe space.
I have two cats, Ceelo Green and Nina Simone–yes, named after the musicians! They are sweet and silly and bring me so much joy.
My favorite color is green.
I could eat tacos every day for the rest of my life and be totally content.
